Dr. Gustavo Dziewczapolski

He got his Biology degree at the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1991, where he continued his scientific training to get his PhD in Neuropharmacology in 1998.

He then moved to the United States to continue his scientific career at the University of California, San Diego, leading stem cells research projects in animal models of Parkinson’s disease. In 2003 he joined the Salk Institute to engage in research projects on therapeutic targets for Alzheimer’s disease. He has so far published 20 scientific papers that have been cited over 2,000 times.

Ever since September 2016, Dr. Dziewczapolski began a new chapter in his career as Scientific Director of Cure CMD. In his new role, he oversees the annual grant program of the Cure CMD Foundation, focused on finding treatments for the entire range of congenital muscular dystrophies, organizes and participates in scientific conferences in the same field and aims to become a link between patients and their families, regulatory bodies that assess new treatments and the medical and scientific community that researches, tests and designs therapies to improve the quality of life and, eventually, find a cure.

Gustavo is proud dad of two beautiful girls, Tatiana (11) and Rafaela (8), who inspire and energize him every day. And to balance his addiction to chocolate, he surfs and plays soccer in his spare time.
