This event, organized as part of World Rare Disease Day by the NANOMED Spain platform and the Sant Joan de D\u00e9u Research Institute, brought together leading experts in nanomedicine to share the latest advances in the diagnosis and treatment of these conditions.<\/p>\n<p>The day began with an opening session led by Joan Comella, Director of the Sant Joan de D\u00e9u Research Institute, and Josep Samitier, Scientific Coordinator of NANOMED Spain and Director of the IBEC (Catalonia Institute for Bioengineering). The presentations covered a wide range of innovations, from new therapeutic strategies for Duchenne muscular dystrophy, such as the use of nanoparticles for targeted drug delivery, to the development of innovative biomaterials for tissue regeneration.<\/p>\n<p>Key breakthroughs in the application of nanovesicles in pediatric cancer were also highlighted, aiming to enhance treatment effectiveness while minimizing side effects. Additionally, in the field of rare autoimmune diseases, new nanomedicine-based technologies were presented to help modulate the immune response and improve patients&#8217; quality of life.<\/p>\n<p>Representing the Fundaci\u00f3n Noelia, Dr. Eduard Go\u00f1alons delivered a presentation titled <em>&#8220;Fundaci\u00f3n Noelia : A Hope for DMC-Col6 Families&#8221;<\/em>, emphasizing the foundation\u2019s commitment to finding solutions for collagen VI congenital muscular dystrophy (Col6-CMD). His speech underscored the crucial role of collaboration between patient associations and the scientific community in advancing research and developing effective therapies.<\/p>\n<p>The presentation served as a success story of how synergy between families and researchers can drive progress, echoing the words of Jordi Cruz, a trustee of FEDER (Spanish Federation for Rare Diseases).
