Dr. Carsten G. B\u00f6nnemann<\/h2>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]\n

Senior Investigator in Neuromuscular and Neurogenetic Disorders at the NINDS National Institute of Neurological Disease and Stroke, Bethesda, MD (USA)<\/p>\n

Dr. Bonnemann received his MD from the University of Freiburg and completed pediatric training in Germany. The pediatric neurology residency at MGH\/Harvard was followed by postdoctoral work with Dr. Louis Kunkel at Children’s Hospital Boston, who works on the molecular genetics of muscular dystrophy.<\/p>\n

In 2002, he joined the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia\/University of Pennsylvania as an Assistant Professor, Co-Director of the Neuromuscular Program, and Director of the Neurogenetics Clinic.<\/p>\n

He joined NINDS in 2010 as a Senior Investigator and Section Chief for Childhood Neuromuscular and Neurogenetic Disorders.<\/p>\n

Dr. Bonnemann was a Pew Fellow in Biomedical Sciences. He received the 2009 Derek Denny Brown Neurological Scholar Award.<\/p>\n

Research in Dr. Bonnemann’s laboratory revolves around the molecular mechanisms underlying early-onset muscle disease (congenital muscular dystrophies, congenital myopathies, and reductive body myopathy).
